JCG News"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness....."Well, here we are again in the 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness', together with chilly frosty mornings and evenings as Autumn segues into Winter. The time of year when choral societies are busily working on their autumnal and Christmas programmes.
Jesmond Choral Group made a strong start to the 2008/9 season with two concert performances of Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado, with local singers taking the lead roles. Both performances (in Jesmond and Longbenton) were well received. A joint venture with Bishop Auckland Choral Society followed in November for Handel's Messiah, with the work performed in both Bishop Auckland and in Jesmond. Given the wealth of Christmas offerings already in place across the region, the Group have decided not to schedule a Christmas concert this year, instead concentrating on a very successful fund-raising evening held recently and on planning for 2009 and onwards. This season the choir has been delighted to welcome several new members. If you enjoy singing and are looking for a friendly, expanding choir, come along to a rehearsal at St Hilda's Church, Jesmond on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm where you can be assured of a warm welcome. The Group are taking a slightly extended break over Christmas but will resume rehearsals from Tuesday 6 January, 2009. For further details please contact the Music Director, Jonathan Scott. We hope to see you soon! With very warm Season's Greetings from the Jesmond Choral Group. New website goes live!We are delighted to announce the launch of this brand new website to coincide with the 2007/2008 40th anniversary season for Jesmond Choral Group (formerly the St James's Choral Group).
Over the coming weeks and months we'll be adding content to the site, including an archive list of performances, current committee contacts, events for the 2007-08 season, multimedia clips (which are housed in a MySpace account) and a whole lot more! You can even choose from one of three designs for the site using the selection feature in the top right-hand corner - choices include a classic look, a contemporary feel and also a high visibility choice to assist with accessibility for those with visual impairment. We hope you find the site pleasing to use! Labels: website |
